Bible Reading Plan: Days 13-14
I remember reading and pondering on these chapters in Acts a few years ago. My thoughts then were about how various European explorers landed on various tropical islands and were thought to be gods. These explorers took advantage of the situation, enjoying the best of everything that was offered to them. Paul and Barnabas refused such adoration and worship. That makes sense. We serve one true God who has no other gods before him.
When I paused to think about events of Acts 12 this year, I made a connection to a (false) teaching that we are ‘gods’ just as our Father is God. Read Genesis and read it closely: we are made in His image, like Him, but we are made human. We are similar, but certainly not the same. It is important now (as always) to read the Bible, to search the Scriptures, and test what our leaders and teachers are preaching.
